To our Neighbors, Supporters and Colleagues:
We hope that this message finds you and your families healthy and safe.
We wanted to provide a brief update on Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland in light of the COVID-19 crisis.
Warming Center
The Warming Center is being wound down for the season. To help reduce any risk to those we serve, DSS has been placing guests into alternative locations.
Eviction Prevention
The Governor has put a 90 day moratorium on evictions during this crisis.
We are continuing to work with active clients and are reaching out to our list of prior clients to check in on them and assess their situation.
Food Security
The pantry is open during the normal operating hours; every Tuesday (noon to 2 pm), Wednesday (5:30 to 7:30 pm) and Saturday (8 to 10 am). While we have fewer volunteers available to assist, at the moment we are okay in terms of appropriate staffing.
In addition, the Food Bank has ample supply for us to continue to feed our families. Families will receive pre-made bags based on family size.
There has not been a noticeable increase in the number of households requiring food thus far, however new individuals and families would be welcomed if they need support and go through the same procedures as existing families.
SNAP enrollment continues as we try to get benefits set up while the government may be increasing the available funds for that benefit.
Blessing of the Soil
As you know, we host an annual family event for the Blessing of the Soil. It is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 25th. We are exploring the option of conducting this special event through the use of a livestream broadcast over Facebook.
Hearts of Gold Gala
Currently our Hearts of Gold Gala is scheduled for Thursday, October 1st. Please save the date. Our hope is that we will be able to celebrate together at that event on that day.
General
Staff are working remotely as much as possible and are in frequent contact to make sure we are doing everything we can to serve the needs of our participants. The telephone number for assistance is 845-942-5791 and individuals will get a call back within a few hours.
Please stay well and safe during this challenging time.
