The Board of Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerome Kilbane to the position of Executive Director. Kilbane, a resident of Stony Point, brings a wealth of experience in the non-profit sector to the position and has already started in his new position with the agency.
Born in Brooklyn, Kilbane holds a Master of Arts from St. John’s University and has spent much of his career serving the poor through both secular and non-secular agencies. He worked at Covenant House for over 25 years where he operated programs in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He served as Executive Director of Covenant House in Pennsylvania where he helped found the agency and built a continuum of services that included street outreach, a 51 bed Crisis Center and a transitional living program.
While serving as Executive Director of Covenant House New York, the largest program for homeless and runaway youth in the country, he was invited to testify before the Senate on the challenges facing the homeless and runaway youth in the United States. He has vast experience in program design, fundraising, Non-profit Board Development and process improvement.
“We are excited to bring Jerry on board in this important position for Catholic Charities Community Services in Rockland. So many individuals of all faiths depend on us for housing support, crisis intervention and our food pantry and we know that Jerry will bring his energy and ideas to support our programs and help those in need,” stated Joan Facelle, Board Chair.
“One of my main goals is to ensure that people across Rockland understand how we can help the most vulnerable in our community regardless of their faith or ethnicity, or previous circumstances, and that we not only provide material support, but emotional support as well. Anyone can find themselves in a position of needing assistance, we want them to know that all are welcome at Catholic Charities Community Services,” stated Kilbane during a recent discussion of the organization’s mission.
