Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland serves to help anyone in need, non-Catholics and Catholics alike, providing them with help, resources and hope with compassion and dignity. CCCSR is nondenominational; no one is turned away.
Each day we receive requests from the Department of Social Services, school administrators, nurses, social workers, Child Protective Services and neighbors who seek help for others. Help can include food, household goods, medicine, funeral services, tuition, utility services and more.
Every year on average CCCSR services over:
150 families were assisted during financial crisis.
895 individuals were assisted with referrals to other providers for information, workshops and counseling.
500 individuals were screened for food stamp eligibility and 300 secured for food stamps.
137 families were provided with financial emergency relief for eviction prevention, utilities, funerals, and other basic needs.
90 families were prevented from being evicted.
44 utility shut-off notices were prevented.
115,000+ meals were distributed to over 1,500 households including 6,052 adults, 588 elderly and over 5,029 children from our Food Pantry.
6,000 pounds of fresh vegetables were distributed to our Food Pantry participants thus far from our Community Garden of Love.
40+dedicated volunteers help to prepare, bag and distribute food; as well as help with speical projects and events throughout the year.
408 families were enrolled in our Food Pantry Program, totaling over 1,500 individuals.
167 struggling families and 700 children were adopted for the back-to-school season and Christmas holidays as part of our “Adopt A Family” program, brightening spirits with gifts of clothing, backpacks, toys and household items.
