At Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland, no one is ever turned away from receiving food for any reason. Please call 845 942-5791 during office hours to register.
Our Food Pantry is located adjacent to our offices at 78 Hudson Avenue in Haverstraw, New York. Cooking demonstrations are scheduled in season using fresh ingredients from the bounty harvested from the “Garden of Love”.
CCCSR receives food donations from many sources:
Food Bank of Hudson Valley – Located in Latham, New York, the Food Bank collects and distributes large donations of unmarketable but still edible food to charitable agencies feeding hungry people in six counties of New York.
Food Drive Donations – Many of Rockland’s parishes collect non-perishable food from food drive events held throughout the year, contributing to Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland’s food pantry inventory.
Rockland’s Get Fresh Program – Started in August 2010 through the efforts of People to People, TOUCH and Rockland Jewish Family Service, the program coordinates a monthly distribution of fresh produce and other food from the Northeast Regional Food Bank in Latham, NY to Rockland agencies. On average, over 30,000 pounds of food are delivered and picked up by local food banks and soup kitchens throughout Rockland each month.
Garden of Love – With the assistance of Rockland County’s Cornell Cooperative Education Master Gardener program, our ‘Garden of Love’ was built in 2010. Working in collaboration with St. Ann’s Parish and Good Samaritan Hospital to create gardens, produce is grown and distributed to the needy through the Food Pantry Programs throughout the parishes. Besides saving money, Community Gardens help to feed our neighbors, while teaching members of the community how to grow their own food.
Private Donations – We are grateful for the generous contributions we receive all year long. To make a donation, click here.
Every $1 you donate would provide four meals to a needy family.
